MTG BREAKS WITH TRUMP Over Fear Of Election POWER GRAB

Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, once a staunch Trump ally, now warns that President Trump may use the ongoing Iran conflict as justification to cancel the 2028 presidential election, citing repeated statements she believes are designed to normalize the idea among Americans.

From Supporter to Critic

During an appearance on a radio program, Greene expressed concern about Trump’s pattern of suggesting elections could be suspended during wartime. She pointed to his August 2025 meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, where Trump noted Ukraine had not held elections since Russia’s 2022 invasion. Trump remarked at the time that if the United States were at war three and a half years later, there would be no more elections, adding “that’s good.”

Greene told the host she believes Trump deliberately plants ideas through repetition to test public reaction and normalize controversial concepts. She called the pattern “incredibly dangerous” and insisted no American should accept election cancellation under any circumstances, emphasizing that a third Trump term would violate the Constitution.

Pattern of Constitutional Concerns

The president has repeatedly suggested he might remain in office beyond his constitutional term limit. Trump’s campaign has sold merchandise bearing “TRUMP 2028” branding, and he has claimed entitlement to a third term based on unsubstantiated allegations that Democrats cheated in the 2020 election. Multiple investigations and court rulings have found no evidence supporting claims of widespread 2020 election fraud.

Trump recently told a news network he would only accept upcoming midterm election results if they are “honest,” suggesting “something else has to happen” otherwise. The ongoing Iran war, which began during his second term, continues with no clear resolution as peace negotiations stall.

Political Fallout and Breaking Point

Greene’s relationship with Trump collapsed after she called for releasing files related to Jeffrey Epstein. The president responded by nicknaming her “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown,” prompting her resignation from Congress. She now says demanding the Epstein file release caused the “demise” of the Republican Party but was “worth every single bit.” Her transformation from Trump’s most vocal congressional supporter to critic represents a significant shift in Republican politics as constitutional questions about executive power and election integrity continue dominating national discourse.
