Editorial Policy

Scope

This policy governs everything Political Watch publishes and exists so readers can measure our coverage against a stated commitment.

Sourcing and Attribution

Our work is built on the public record — congressional votes and filings, court documents, agency publications, official statements — and on reporting by other outlets covering the same events. We link to those sources so readers can check our account against the original.

Where our coverage rests substantially on another outlet’s reporting, we say so and credit it. We do not present other people’s work as our own.

Contested claims are attributed. Where the evidence is incomplete, we say what is missing rather than writing as though it were not.

Political Coverage and Fairness

We cover figures across the political spectrum and apply the same evidentiary standard to all of them. A claim does not become more credible because of who makes it.

People and organisations facing critical coverage get their stated position included where one is available. We distinguish clearly between what is alleged, what is charged and what has been established.

Accuracy and Corrections

Errors of fact are corrected as soon as confirmed. Corrections carry a note recording what changed and when. Material developments in ongoing stories are added and dated. We do not remove published articles to erase a mistake.

Report an error to contact@politicalwatch.net.

Independence and Funding

Political Watch is supported by advertising. Advertisers, political organisations and campaigns have no role in selecting, reviewing or approving our coverage, and none receives advance sight of it.

We accept no payment for coverage, and we do not publish sponsored material presented as editorial.

AI and Automation

We use software tools in research, drafting and editing. Every article is reviewed by a person before it publishes. Accountability for published work rests with Political Watch.
